Update on the first maya lip sync

Just thought I would update this one. Still working my way through it. One thing about being animator is that you always find things that could be stronger than it is already. You must find room for improvement in all your work. After all you should never stop learning. Any comments or suggestions I'm all ears.

First maya lip sync

Well thought I would try my hand at a lip sync in maya. I know its quite the jump from a bouncing ball, lol. Anyway there are a few tweaks left on this one ( the turn around may be to extreme , mostly timing stuff. His right hand when he is in the up position pops and falls off the arc a bit. Also his left hand in the final poses needs some work too ). The idea is the blue guy has just broken something and the blake rig is pissed off about it but I didn't want to waste time animating the bg character. Overall its definitely a learning curve on this one, but its starting to get there. I will post a new version in the next few days I'm sure. Any comments would be awesome.

Just a minor tweak on the last video.

Well thought I would try my hand at some 3d. Andrew Doll and myself are getting together each week to learn the unfamiliar world of Maya. Well holy smokes what a HUGE program.

We started with the basics obviously, and there is some problems in there I'm aware, but its a stepping stone in the right direction. We will be starting some character animation soon, and it's amazing how much there is to learn.

He asked me to do one of him for his facebook profile picture.I would like to thank Mike Gause and Augusto Kapronczai for their critique to help me polish this one off. Designing for a personal project

Well like most of us out there , I am starting to get the urge to animate a new little film. I'm pretty excited and it has been a little over a year since I've animated traditionally and I can't wait to get this thing boarded. The synopsis deals with children and their overactive imagination.

This little guy is the main character, with slight variation. Basically the "sheriff" vs two villain children ( the neighbors ). Any critiques or suggestions , I'm all ears.

Back on the drawing board

Well now that I am in Ottawa and crashing at Kyles place, I finally got something to post. Everyone at the new job has been great and I've been learning Harmony, it can be overwhelming at times ( for this old cat anyways ) but I'm catching on. Well here is a character I did of my nephew. He just turned one and believe it or not he actually flexes and makes the faces too. Commments welcome and posts will be frequent I promise.

We Miss You Jack Jack

On the morning of March 14 my girlfriend Jen and I awoke and went to check on our little Jack Jack. To our surprise we found her in her cage ( long story that Jack Jack is a she! ) bleeding from her underside. We took her to the vet as soon as we could and left her there for observations. A short 45 minutes later she passed quitetly. Turns out it was a ruptured tumour on her uterus and thats what caused the bleeding. I am glad I had a chance to say goodye in the morning as we could tell it was pretty serious. The sad thing is it was this moment that I really felt she loved us ( as she had quite the attitude, and wouldn't normally come to us unless we had food ) she tried with all she had to be near us and wanted us to comfort her in her last hour. We only had her for a short while, and its amazing how much you can attach yourself to such a little thing. Goodbye Jackers, we will love you forever! Jen and Chris
